In 2002, Evolutionary Ecology Research expanded its coverage of Macroecology & Macroevolution. It has not reduced its attention to the other areas of evolutionary ecology. Instead, EER is publishing about 25% more pages. If needed, it will also publish more issues/year.

A number of distinguished editors joined our board to help with the expansion:

Tony Barnosky, California, Berkeley

barnosky@socrates.berkeley.edu
Tim Blackburn, Birmingham t.blackburn@bham.ac.uk
Mikael Fortelius, Helsinki mikael.fortelius@helsinki.fi
Andrew H. Knoll, Harvard aknoll@oeb.harvard.edu
Bill Kunin, Leeds bgywek@leeds.ac.uk
Mike McKinney, Tennessee mmckinne@utkux.utcc.utk.edu
Brian A. Maurer, Michigan State maurerb@msu.edu
Scott Wing, Smithsonian NMNH wing.scott@nmnh.si.edu

That is an impressive list to add to EER's distinguished M&M editors.

EER will not allow itself to compete with established paleobiology journals for the fine specialized papers that appear in our sister journals (such as Paleobiology). But we do want to enrich the dialogue between biologically-trained and geologically-trained evolutionists. EER believes that some new primary contributions ought to be written for both. EER will provide a forum for them and also for discussion of the issues that concern both.

There is no question that the number of excellent papers in Macroecology & Macroevolution has been growing. We are glad to participate with growth of our own.
